The plan called for higher technology including space craft and many other "Star Wars" technology. The plan triggered immediate Soviet Union response of similar planned technologies. The SDI was criticized harshly for it's almost unrealistic entails.","dateCreated":"1302093838","smartDate":"Apr 6, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"chaddavis2012","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/chaddavis2012","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"37192152","body":"The Bay of Pigs Invasion was the most significant event because it began the ongoing battle between US and Cuban relations. The United States CIA trained Cuban exiles to overthrow the Communist leader Fidel Castro, but the Cubans were not trained well enough. They all either were imprisoned or killed. Not only did the Bay of Pigs Invasion start the trouble with the US-Cuban relations, but it also sparked problems in Europe and Latin America with the trust of the CIA.","dateCreated":"1302093866","smartDate":"Apr 6, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"kaitlyn.roy.2012","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/kaitlyn.roy.2012","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"37192160","body":"The most significant event out of the four would be the korean war. The reason Why the korean war would be one of the most significant events would be because I havent had a chance to dig in as deep with the other articles as this one. Also the korean war kinda goes to show that some conflicts were thousands of people die for no good reason. Not to say there is a good reason for someone to die. In the korean war the entire thing started from the south having a training exercise and the north saw them and thought they were massing for war so they shelled south korea which caused south korea to of coarse retaliate. In the end after thousands of people died including 30,000 americans the border went back to basically the same place as it was when the war started. That many people died for nothing","dateCreated":"1302093873","smartDate":"Apr 6, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"zackjwalker","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/zackjwalker","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"37192178","body":"I believe that the most important of my four topics is the Cuban Missile Crisis because it was the closest the world has ever come to a nuclear holocaust. The Cuban Missile Crisis is one of the most known historic events that exist. America and the Soviet Union normally fought through other countries, aiding other nations but in this instance, America and the Soviets were face-to-face for one of the few times during the Cold War. This is not only the most important event out of the four I have to choose from but I think it is the most important event in the Cold War because it was a turning point. This led to Soviet leader Khrushchev's fall out of power.","dateCreated":"1302093888","smartDate":"Apr 6, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"Logannichols","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/Logannichols","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"37192180","body":"I think the most significant event my partner and I have is the Cuban Missile Crisis. I say this because out of the four events it is the most popular and actually known world wide. Before this project I had never heard of Mao Zedong or how the CIA overthrew Iran and Guatemala. So by this being the most popular it has been more widely spread and hence I think it's the most significant.","dateCreated":"1302093891","smartDate":"Apr 6, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"Jazzmyne12","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/Jazzmyne12","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1301578255\/Jazzmyne12-lg.jpg"}},{"id":"37192206","body":"I strictly believe that the most important event out of the four would have to be The Yalta Conference.
