Summary
During WWII, Czechoslovakia completely disappeared from the media and the map of Europe. Czechoslovakia again came into being in April of 1945. Over the next three years, tensions would rise between the communist and non-communist parties within the government .On February 20, 1948, the twelve non-communist members of the Czechoslovakian cabinet resigned, in an attempt to have early elections. The resignations were not accepted by the current president Edvard Benes, and he did not call for elections. On February 25, 1948, Benes accepted the resignations and a new cabinet list, completing the communist takeover of Czechoslovakia.

This event is important because it took place during the height of Communism in the world. In order to be successful overall, Communism needed to be accepted by all and have a large number of followers. Czechoslovakia becoming a Communist nation showed the spreading of Communism, which shows success for Communist believers.
