After WWII Berlin Germany had decided to divide ways and close its borders. The Berlin Wall was then built in August of 1961 and it separated the East and the West lands of Germany. The wall was created in order to prevent emigration into Germany. Crossing the border was either prohibited or it required approval or if you had met the special qualifications standards. If you were allowed to pass you needed a "visa" which was the equivalent to today's passport. The impact of the Berlin parameters closing had an affect on the people. The "one way filter" would inject gloominess and resentment into the air, as the citizens watched the affects of the wall unfold right before them.
